Shepherd Events (a registered DBA of Solid Rock Recovery) operates community event management software for churches and community organizations. This page describes how we collect consent and handle SMS messaging for those programs.
Members opt in to receive recurring SMS messages by creating an account in the Shepherd Events application. During registration, before any message is sent, members must affirmatively check a consent checkbox presented alongside the phone number entry field. The checkbox states:
"I agree to receive text messages from [Church Name] (powered by Shepherd Events), including event reminders, account notifications, and verification codes. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to unsubscribe."
This checkbox is unchecked by default and must be actively selected by the member before a one-time passcode (OTP) is sent to verify their phone number. No messages of any kind — including the OTP itself — are sent to any phone number until this consent checkbox has been checked.
We send the following types of SMS messages:
Message frequency varies based on the number of events a member registers for. Members typically receive 1–3 messages per event registered. Messages are recurring for as long as the member remains registered for upcoming events.
Members may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message received. After opting out, no further messages will be sent to that number. Members may also contact their community administrator to be removed.
